Women have about 15 to 20 percent chance of becoming pregnant between 20 and 35 years. They are also at a lower risk of disability from complications of pregnancy and child birth. In Ghana, cultural factors play a significant role in identifying factors that affect the level of maternal mortality and morbidity. Women therefore need to be educated about the dangers of some cultural practices that affect pregnancy.
