Antropólogo e teólogo, Joseph Bongango foi investigador no E.C.C. do Ministério da Investigação Científica do Congo de 1977 a 1990. A partir de 1991, estabelecido em Bruxelas, tornou-se um investigador independente que desenvolve a sua investigação no domínio das Ciências Humanas e Sociais na Biblioteca Nacional da Bélgica. Autor de manuscritos publicados e não publicados.
