African Women's Quest for Self-Realization is a literary study of the Nigerian woman writer Buchi Emecheta's novels: The Joys of Motherhood and The Slave Girl. It offers a critical reading of Emecheta's female charatcers and their depiction in an attempt to provide satisfactory answers to the hot debates concerning the feminist ideology of her writings.Our book is a study of the representation of the Nigerian woman s identity as female, black,colonized,and African in order to explain how race and gender were woven together as determinant factors that affected the female experience under colonialism.
