I decided to write this book because I see a need for this information not only in the conscious or woke community but the black community as a whole. We are children of the diaspora, and as those Black Afrikan people, we are largely drawn to spiritual practices of all regions of the earth. Whether this be Hinduism, Buddhism, or New Age spiritual practices, we seem to have an affinity for metaphysical practices. What's interesting about this phenomenon is we rarely look to Afrika for these practices, or we try to trick our minds into believing that all practices come from Afrika because life came from Afrika, so it doesn't matter. For now, I will say that is simply historically, socially, politically, and spiritually inaccurate and later in this book I will get into why. Information about our spiritual systems from our ancestors and current people on the continent of Afrika needs to be dispersed. It is my opinion that we can glean great knowledge from these systems and use these ancient practices to improve our condition globally. This is my contribution to fill the gap in knowledge we have about our ancient Afrikan systems. We will talk about what is Afrikan spirituality and go over various systems. We will talk about why Afrikan spirituality is important to Afrikan liberation. We will introduce a new term that will serve as an umbrella to the Afrikan Spirituality moniker. We will talk about how we already engage in some of these practices and don't know it, but first, we must dispel some rumors and give some propensities of the community that harms the research of Afrikan spirituality. After that, I will take you on a journey that involves instructing you on what it means to be a child of the Afrikan diaspora, what ki.môyo is, and why it's important. We will go over the fundamentals of spiritual practices you have heard of and some you have not heard of. We will introduce you to the concept of the community of memory and give my final thoughts, references, and book recommendations. I truly hope this text is fulfilling and you learn vital information that transforms your thinking.
