The author uses these writings to expose the illicit appropriation of resources and the thefts fostered by a base of corrupt mentalities, and how they affect Africa's development. He also portrays a youth in a contradictory slumber, easily seduced by the pleasures of life, the stupor caused by alcoholism, sexuality, prostitution and unnecessary sacrifices, among other evils. The author cannot end without playing the tamtam, mournful notes, rhythmic beats of Africa, verses of caution to a youth that is dozing off without glory on an unsure future.
