First comes the famous "Against Interpretation": "...interpretation amounts to the philistine refusal to leave the work of art alone". An interesting proposition, and well argumented, but I shall continue to read literary criticism.
"On style": "...style and content are indissoluble". In the practice of criticism, though, this is not so evident.
"The literary criticism of George Lukacs" shows the accomplishments and the flaws of this controversial great critic.
"The death of Tragedy" is no funeral, but the presentation of a new dramatic form: the metaplay.
"Going to theater, etc." provides the sheer pleasure of visiting some outstanding theatrical events with a very critical eye.
