One of the major problems in gerontology is accelerated ageing. In order to correct age-related changes that cause premature ageing, its diagnosis and quantification are necessary. The study of peculiarities and rates of age-related decrease of the lower limbs function was carried out on clinical research models which have no limitations in life expectancy, size, specific peculiarities of structure and function. It was determined that under conditions of innervation insufficiency, the contractile ability of the lower limbs muscles decreases with age to a greater extent than in the normal and deficient blood supply. The concept of predominant factor of the decrease of muscular innervation in the age-related decrease of the human lower limbs muscle function is formulated. The accelerated rate of the age-related decrease of the muscular contractility in functional insufficiency of the spinal cord structures is determined by the exhaustion of the adaptation reserves of their blood supply already at rest and not only during functional exertion. The book is intended for researchers in the field of clinical and normal physiology.
