The discussion is in two parts: practical and theoretical. The former includes a selection of analogies organised alphabetically for convenience, used by practitioners in varied learning contexts and from other sources and evaluates them. The underlying theory part is expressed in plain language and presents several inductive and deductive analogical models successfully applied and acting as solutions for further application. The author appeals to all educators, particularly those in high schools, colleges, or universities, to develop a repertoire of apposite analogies to help bridge learning difficulties and apply them whenever and wherever possible to the benefit of their students.

Autorenporträt
Ted Bailey was born in Brentwood, Essex but spent his early years away at a Surrey boarding school where by accident he took up running and became successful. After leaving school he studied at Loughborough and qualified as a Physical Education teacher. Initially in the Sixties, he worked in London schools and the Essex Youth and Adult Service. He later moved into the college and university sector, latterly in teacher training for those in adult, further and higher education. During that time he completed a research Doctorate. In retirement he returned to something he had always wanted to do: write. This is his seventh book.
