In the monograph solar photovoltaic cells offer a cost-effective alternative to fossil fuels by converting solar radiation directly into electricity without moving parts, ensuring a long service life was described. In particular, AIIBVI film chalcogenides, which include compounds such as ZnS, ZnSe, CdS, CdSe, HgS, and HgSe, and solid solutions based on them, are significant materials in semiconductor research due to their promising applications in thin-film solar cells. This monograph focuses on the synthesis, structural characterization, and properties of these chalcogenide materials. The significant destruction suffered by Ukraine's energy system will require rapid recovery and increased electricity production. Therefore, when developing effective solar cells based on metal chalcogenides, it is essential to consider the following important factors: economic feasibility, simple manufacturing technology , absorption spectral range, and environmental friendliness. The spectrum of AIIBVI film chalcogenides use is also described, which varies from household applications to military purposes (power banks with solar cells, communication stations with panel charging, etc.).
