This book discusses the development, types and application principles of portable air purifiers in China. It analyzes the theoretical characteristics of air purifiers under various operational conditions, and points out that the term "Clean Air Delivery Rate" cannot be used to precisely reflect the problems that occur under various operational conditions. By comparing theoretical and measured data, it highlights the mainfeatures of air purifiers and key points in the design process for different applications. Calculation methods for the indoor particle concentration and the self-purification time are also provided. The book describes the conditions for window opening in smog and for selecting air purifiers, and proposes a newmethod for improvingtheir measurement. In closing, it includes a new assessment index.

Autorenporträt
XU Zhong-lin is a Senior Research Fellow with the China Academy of Building Research. He served as Dean of the Department of Air Cleaning Technology at the HVAC Institute, Director of Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for the Air Cleaning Project at the State Construction Engineering Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, Vice Chairman of the Cleaning Technology Sub-committee of China Electronics Association, Invited member of the GMP Committee for the Ministry of Agriculture, Member of the Biosecurity Technical Sub-Committee for the Chinese National Laboratory Accreditation Board, etc. Over the years he has consistently focused on research into HVAC and air cleaning technologies. In addition to creating the theoretical system for cleanrooms, he independently invented air filters for defense applications, and was involved in the development of the "Complete Equipment for Assembly Isothermal Cleanrooms." In recent years, he has created the concept of mainstream theory and leakage preventing layer theory, which has been successfully applied in various sanitary engineering projects. As for the theory and application problems in air cleaning technology and engineering, he has also made significant, creative achievements. He is one of the pioneers of China's air cleaning technology, and has made great contribution to promote the development of air cleaning technology and engineering in China. He has also published several related books.
