His 1978 book, "Don't Bury Yourself in Funeral Expense" (Communications Press) precipitated his major career change. This double background adds an interesting flavor.

Bern Case recently retired after 24 years as director of the "Rouge Valley International- Medford Airport" in southern Oregon. During his tenure the airport tripled in sized to 900,000 passengers. It rose nationally from a ranking of 179 in the nation to 135 under his direction. He is an Accredited Airport Executive with the American Association of Airport Executives. He has served in leadership positions with the associations on state, regional, and, national levels. One of his peers refers to the many visits to his airport by other airport administrators as attending "The School of Bern." Director Case has received numerous awards and recognition, topped off with The American Association of Airport Executives, "Distinguished Service Award" for lifetime achievement. In retirement Bern has been nominated by the Governor, and, confirmed by the Senate as a member of the Oregon State Aviation Board. On a local level, he is serving on the Board of Directors of the Rouge Credit Union.
