As her two autistic children have grown, Hales has devoted herself to creating a community more understanding and compassionate of her kids' needs. Her first publication, Alex and the Drummer, made it's way across the globe and into the hearts of teachers, children and families worldwide. She spends her time preparing for her third publication, Alex and Santa, visiting classrooms to lead autism acceptance discussions, and making sure her children have the services they need.
