Autorenporträt
Rosemary Garreffa is an Australian author and a member of Australian Society of Authors. Originally from the Mallee, she lived for a short time in South Australia before settling and raising her family in Euston on the Murray River in New South Wales. The family owned and run second-generation vineyard, and her marriage into an extensive Italian-Australian family, her numerous children and grandchildren give her endless material and character traits for her work. Her short story titled Mack won first place in a competition run by The Creatives Journal in July 2020 and brings back the days of living on a farm with dams.Rosemary, fuelled by her love of all things genealogy, travelled through Europe, England, and Ireland in 2016 & 2019 investigating the family roots, soaking up atmosphere and settings to feed her other great loves of writing and art.Her first novel Alfredo explores what it might be like to be a Guardian Angel and how having one such creature assigned to us as humans, might influence our lives for the better - or worse. Walking the streets of Paris, visiting the cathedral, and the little five-hundred-year- old flat behind the door next to the chocolate shop - home for five glorious days - was all it took to cement the scenes for her.A second novel, an historical fiction, is her work in progress. Based on her own great-great grandmother's life, Rosemary hopes all the skills learnt from researching missing family members will bring Annie to life for the reader.Rosemary's writing calls her readers to see how the past connects to the things of the moment and how our lives are influenced by the actions of others we can never know.
