This research is an effort to shed light on Algeria during the period of national self-preservation in 1990s and national self-extension under President Boutaflika since 1999. In addition this research also highlighted the reasons that were behind the shift of Algerian diplomacy from national self-preservation to national self-extension featured mainly by the election of President Bouteflika on April 1999, marking a big shift in Algeria diplomacy.

Born in Medea (Algeria), on 31 03 1967. Bachelor of Arts in History from Algiers in June 1991. Masters in Strategic and defense Studies from University of Malaya in 2004. Doctor of Philosophy (Strategy and Security Studies) from the National university of Malaysia (UKM).
