She was born in Bromborough in Merseyside and was educated at Wirral Grammar School for Girls, where she was the Head Girl from 1998-1999. Subsequently, she studied Philosophy at University College London. She then went to work as a researcher at the House of Commons before handling communications at Network Rail.
