This work is concerned with the sequence, structure and phylogenetic analyses of alkaline shock proteins (ASP). Since protein structure for ASP is not available in the Protein Data Bank (PDB), and moreover, no work has been done on structure prediction, limits enthusiasm to understand the mechanism of ASP. Hence I took initiative and developed a structure for asp23 of Staphylococcus aureus, strain bovine RF122 by prediction-based threading method. The sequence and phylogenetic analyses were carried out for all the available ASPs from public sequence repositories. This book therefore enables the naive reader to acquaint more about ASP, its sequence, structure and phylogeny. These analyses should shed some light for those who work on microbiology, biochemistry, and especially for those who work on bacterial adaptation.
