1969 - The year when a man walks on the moon; Brian Jones is sacked from the Rolling Stones and drowns in his pool; Woodstock happens; The Troubles kick off in Northern Ireland; Pink Floyd release the soundtrack for the film More; and American troops are found to have committed a massacre in Vietnam. This is the backdrop when Jonno Tremaine drops out of university to become a writer and Susie MacDonald is driven from the island of Lewis for falling pregnant out of wedlock. Attempting to create an alternative society Jonno becomes entangled in the London drug world, narrowly escaping prison when two kilos of cocaine are sent to him by post. Susie becomes a feminist while escaping from an abusive boyfriend and moves to London to begin a career as a folk singer. Their two worlds collide and while supporting each other's aspirations the two young misfits find themselves falling in love. They have both reached pivotal moments in their lives and have to decide at short notice whether their love is strong enough to attempt to pursue a life together, or if it has just been a fling and they should go their seperate ways.
