I started to write this autobiography some 40 years ago, however, much as my friends praised it, I decided it was entirely too much a work that could be categorized as a bit too saccharine, and too closely resembled Twain's classic, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." I didn't want that. I wasn't Tom Sawyer, nor was I Oliver Twist, but I was a healthy mixture of both. The first edition in this series was entirely text, but I had a trove of photos and other memorabilia, from as far back as my years in an orphanage. So I decided to do a second edition, which I call a "Scrapbook" of my youth, as Alone Again Naturally only takes you through my years in an orphanage, then adoption, then through seven years in a Catholic Parochial School. This edition is replete with well over a hundred-seventy photographs which I'm sure the reader will enjoy as they are original photographs of me, the orphanage, and my school years. Make no mistake, I was no goody two-shoes as Oliver was, nor was I an incorrigible such as Bill Sykes. I was a naïve, child seeking one thing: family. I loved dogs, and it shows in this work. Please, join me in a " scrapbook" tour through my most wonderful years, at least once I was adopted and knew I had a real home and for the first time in my life: stability. My first five years were anything but stable, moving from pillar to post, but the love the Shannon's gave me began to make me possess a much clearer look on what family truly meant. Travel with me, won't you? You won't regret it. Oh, and I chose songs for all three volumes because they aptly describe that section of my life. The entire series is titled "Alone Again, Naturally," because that's precisely how my life began, and is ending, and the beautiful lyrics are almost eerily reflective, of how my life started, and apparently will end. It's not all somber and morose, it contains a lot of comedy, adventure, cheer, pranks and laughter. Many of those pranks and adventures went awry, which makes for great reading. I only hope you love it as much in the reading, as I did in the writing.
