The present study explores the possibility of using variant readings of the Targum of the Prophets to get a better insight into the origin and history of Targum Jonathan. Alberdina Houtman, Ph.D (1995) Utrecht University, is Professor of Jewish Studies and Lecturer of Semitic Languages at the Protestant Theological University, The Netherlands. She has published extensively on rabbinic literature and Targum. Harry Sysling, Ph.D. (1991) Leiden University, is researcher on Hebrew and Aramaic studies and Bible translator at the Netherlands Bible Society. He has published extensively on Targum and rabbinic literature.
