Anaemia is a widespread public health concern which leads to impairment in quality of life. It is affecting the health status of 20-50% of the world¿s population. In the present era herbal drugs having no side effects are gaining importance and thus are safer than synthetic drugs. As malaria, swine flu are recurrent problems leading to haemolysis and oxidative stress, a comparative evaluation of three common plants i.e Piper betel, Triticum aestivum and Carica papaya have been taken into account for assessing the antihaemolytic and antioxidant invitro activity and have proven to be the agents of choice which may benefit the mankind. If a combination of these plants be put to preclinical trials to treat anaemia ; a chronic disease affecting our society, it would be a boon.
