The importance of metal matrix composites (MMCs) and hybrid composites has been well recognized by the scientific community world over. MMCs acquire their unique properties which are not possessed by the constituent phases. Aluminium matrix composites (AMCs) in particular have been recognized as potential candidate materials in applications where weight reduction is of paramount importance such as transportation in particular surface transport or air transportation sectors.Investigations have been carried out to produce as-cast and heat-treated aluminium alloy 6061 based hybrid composites with albite particulates and graphite reinforcements. The hybrid composites were prepared by liquid metallurgy technique (stir cast method) through the process of vortex method. The castings were prepared with varying the weight percentages of the reinforcements in the aluminium 6061 matrix material.
