Besides the positive impact of self-worth provided by her exciting characters, their colorful yet intimate settings develop an interest in the past and heritage providing strong roots for childhood development and adult happiness.Betty earned her degree in education from Rockford College, IL, USA, in 1970. Together with her husband, Wally, she served in the mountains of Haiti as a missionary in education and self help development from 1972-2002. During her 30 years of service in Haiti, Betty developed the first rural preschool program which has expanded into hundreds of schools across the nation, following the model she established.In addition to Am I Scottish?, Betty is the author of Robbie the Royal Messenger, Isobel's New World, The Man Who Saved The King, Abigail And The Royal Thread, and the award-winning children's book, A Sergeant in the House. Betty and her husband currently reside in Durham, NC. They have three children, and six grandchildren. When she is not writing children's books, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and being Gramma.
