A native of Columbus, Ohio, Kenneth Andrus attended Marietta College where he was recently recognized as a distinguished graduate. Graduating from the Ohio State University College of Medicine, he was commissioned in the United States Navy where he completed his studies in internal medicine, obtaining board certification. He subsequently completed a twenty-four year career retiring with the rank of Captain alternating tours at Naval medical teaching hospitals, the Fleet and the Fleet Marine Force. Highlights of his operational tours included Medical Officer, Third Battalion Forth Marines; Surgeon 9th Marine Amphibious Brigade, Operation Frequent Wind; Medical Officer, U.S.S. Truxtun CGN-35, Surgeon, Commander Seventh Fleet; Command Surgeon, Commander U.S. Naval Forces Central Command Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Surgeon, United States Pacific Fleet. Following his retirement, he continued to serve our veterans while working at Veterans Affairs.Dr. Andrus began his writing career after his retirement from VA first penning a heartfelt book about his experiences as the father-of-the-bride for his two daughters. Congratulations, Your Daughter is Engaged. Now What? A Father's Emotional Survival Guide. While still on active duty, the idea for his first novel began to form resulting in the publication of Flash Point, the first in the five book The Defender series. His second novel, Amber Dawn was published in March of 2021, and the third, Arctic Menace was published in August of 2021. While working his draft for The Curators, the fourth in the series, he completed a novella "Twenty-one Day in December" included in Christmas Tapestry. He currently resides in Honolulu, Hawaii with his wife of forty-three years, Christine, also a retired Navy physician.
