He is a regent's professor of English at Northern Arizona University. He lives in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Jim Simmerman has published four poetry collections. Awards include a Pushcart "Writer's Choice" Selection and Fellowships from the Arizona Commission of the Arts, and the NEA. He is widely published (Georgia Review, Ploughshares, North American Review) and anthologized (Pushcart, POETRY 1912-2002). He is Regents Professor of English at Northern Arizona University.
