The present study aims at analyzing some samples handled by the American media around 2011Arab spring revolutions. The researcher uses semiotics in the analysis of some caricatures, speeches, and articles, considering them a system of signs organized according to codes and subcodes which reflect certain values, attitudes, beliefs, practices and assumptions. She also explains the potential of applying semiotics to media texts, including television, cartoons, newspaper and magazine articles, and to the practices involved in producing and interpreting some texts. She tries to inspire the reader's enthusiasm for exploring some of the fascinating philosophical issues which semiotics raises, realizing that "semiotics is far more than a method of analyzing texts in a variety of media" (Chandler, 1994, p.2).As there is either direct or indirect act of communication between two or more agents in giving speeches or in writing articles, choosing Jakobson's Theory of Communication is the best way in analyzing the chosen speeches and articles in this research.
