Danske Dandridge gives an account of the prisoners during the American Revolutionary War. Dandridge uses personal narratives to enhance her own words. This book was written so that we as a nation would not forget the sacrifices of so many men for our freedom. Some of the accounts include Jonathan Gillette, William Cunningham, a prison surgeon, a young boy, and a poet writing on the ship. There are sections on Washington and Franklin. The book ends with an appendix including the names of all 8000 men imprisoned on British ships.
