Research on the amnesty in Brazil and Argentina, orientated by the newest trend in the study of historical facts, Global History. Throughout the book, the arguments on both sides of the debate in both countries are presented. The analysis of the international influence on the processes of transition to democracy in the two nations permeates the entire work. Initially, a study is made of the evolution of schools of thought in history, in order to better understand the theory of Global History. Afterwards, the discussion of amnesty in Brazil is presented, focusing on the international dimension of the debate, including the judgement of the Amnesty Law by the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Next, the debate on amnesty in Argentina is introduced, also with an international focus, presenting the Supreme Court's decision on the issue. Finally, it concludes that a change is needed in Brazil's view of transitional justice.
