An American Storyteller is a collection of Thomas Herber Lindsey's stories. Growing up in my family, I always heard from my father and his uncles about 'Uncle Tom' and his funny stories. My father's favorite story was 'The Major's Story.' By the time I was old enough to care or pay attention, time had taken its toll on my father's memory. One of Tom's playbills was captioned, 'Tom Lindsey - The Man That Can Make You Laugh.' Sometime after my father's passing, I found two of Uncle Tom's notebooks and transcribed them into this book. The stories are captured exactly as they were written. Thomas Herber Lindsey was born in Durham, NC on March 9, 1878, and was the fourth of eight children of John Monroe and Nancy Catherine (Morris) Lindsey.
