The general objective of this research is to present "The food system of the Zapotec highlanders during the patron saint's feast of the Virgen del Rosario". Its purpose is to demonstrate that the act of eating, not only fulfils a biological question, in this case, it fulfils a social need: that of maintaining a tradition and an identity in spite of being in another territory. Yolanda Hernández Pardo est titulaire d'un diplôme en sciences sociales de l'Université autonome de Mexico. De 2012 à 2015, elle a collaboré en tant qu'assistante SNI avec le Dr. Luis Alberto Vargas à l'IIA, UNAM. Son domaine d'étude porte sur l'anthropologie de l'alimentation et elle a travaillé comme enseignante au Colegio Nacional de Educación Profesional Técnica (Collège national d'enseignement professionnel technique).
