An appraisal of in-service training for basic school teachers of the deaf in Ghana: A descriptive survey is a book with a comprehensive overview that examined the nature and extent of availability of these activities to the teachers. It investigated factors that hindered the organization and attendance of in service education and training and brought out the inherent difficulties. It also investigated the appropriate modalities or proper staff development programmes for teachers of the deaf and suggested some modalities that will enhance staff development. A set of questionnaire and interviews were used to collect data for the study. Frequencies and percentage distribution tables were used for analyzing the data from the questionnaire while interviews were transcribed and analysed. The study revealed that in-service training programmes are highly irregular, and in the few instances when they are organized, the programmes do not meet the needs and support required by teachers of the deaf in Ghana.
