The study is conducted on the households¿ solid wate management at Adigrat town. Like other developing towns of the country Adigrat has poor solid waste management. This is mainly because of the low level of awareness of the households on the proper disposal of solid wastes. To fill the gap this study has been conducted. The objectives of the study are: To find out the present pattern of disposing household solid waste, to assess the attitude of the households about scientific way of disposing household solid waste, and to identify the negative environmental and health impact of present pattern of house hold solid waste management. The study design for the study was descriptive research design with multi stage sampling technique. A total of 232 randomly selected households were involved to generate quantitative data while seven key informants were selected purposively for qualitative data. The instruments that the study employed are; interview schedule, observation, focus group discussion and key informant interview.

Gebrekirstos Tewelde travaille comme maître de conférences et chef du département de sociologie à l'université d'Adigrat, dans le Tigré, en Éthiopie. Il a mené et participé à différentes recherches et services communautaires, comme l'implication des mineurs non accompagnés dans la migration irrégulière. Il participe à l'organisation de conférences publiques sur différents problèmes sociaux.
