The study was conducted in North Konkan region of Maharashtra, India. So far studies conducted on farming systems in the Konkan region of Maharashtra state are few, and farming system approach in analyzing the problems of agriculture is gaining lot of importance in recent years. Such study will throw light on the problems associated with different farming systems and enable the academicians and policy makers to issue instead of blanket recommendations, a region specific, appropriate and tailor-made recommendations and policy can be implemented for overall agricultural development in north Konkan region of Maharashtra. Study area was delineated in to five distinct clusters on the basis of agro-climatic parameters which appeared to be more appropriate than NARP classifications. Cost and returns, resource use efficiency, optimum plans and constraints were studied for existing farming systems in each region.

Has 18 years of service in Agril. Education, Research and Extension. Currently serving as Deputy Director of Research at D.B.S.K.K.V.,Dapoli,Maharashtra, India
