The book put emphasis on economic analysis of Eri silk production. As the farmers of India are poor they require such enterprises where they can get extra employment as well as income. The farmers growing chili or tomato can go for intercropping of castor crop in 3:1 with 3 rows of chilli/ tomato and one row of castor. The eri silk larva feeds on these castor leaves and produces silk which can be sold in markets. The castor seeds produced can be used to make castor oil which becomes a extra source of income for the farmers. Thus a same piece of land can give chili/ tomato with castor seeds and silk. Thus providing poor farmers with extra employment and income.
