Biological control of insect pests using their natural enemies is one of the important tools in IPM. Hexamermis vishwakarma Dhiman (Nematoda : Mermithidae) has been reported parasitizing Leptocoris augur (Kusam bug) by Dhiman (1984), a pest of Kusum plant (Schleichera oleosa), on which best quality of lac is cultivated. The host bug feeds gregariously and make them unviable and only the juvenile stage of the aforesaid nematode parasitizes the host bug stages (nymphs and adults) and at emergence of fully developed parasitic stage, the host dies. Thus, it caused 100% mortality of the host. Hexamermis vishwakarma Dhiman is an endoparasite found in the body cavity of Leptocoris augur,a pest of Kusam tree, Schleichera oleosa (Sapindaceae). Incidence of parasitism varied from 10 to 88% in the field and 88 to 100% in laboratory. Parasitization caused depletion of host haemolymph, fat bodies, dissolution of thoracic and abdominal muscles and sterility of either sex of the bug. Emergence of nema from host body caused death of host within few minutes. Studies recommend the use of this nematode for the control of Leptocoris augur.
