The present study aims at investigating the factors affecting oral communication in English Language by the Post Graduate students in Pakistan. Whereas, the qualitative data reveals other factors like the role of parents and teachers, teaching methodology, medium of instruction and anxiety.This study has revealed that the Pakistani students show a strong desire to use English Language due to its great utilitarian value and prestigious status as an international language.Based on the results, recommendations have been made to foster speaking skill of the Pakistani ESL Learners.

Ms.Misbah Rosheen Khan is working as a senior academic coordinator and teacher trainer at English Language Institute, King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. She holds M Phil degree in Applied Linguistics and intends to do PhD in the same field by exploring the complex phenomenon of L2 learning and the pivotal role of motivation in the process.
