The book supports the idea that life, from its simplest forms to humans, is based in four inheritance systems: the system of genetic inheritance, the system of epigenetic inheritance, the system of behavioral inheritance and the system of symbolic inheritance. To every inheritance system mentioned above a particular memory structure corresponds. These memory structures are respectively nucleic acids, proteins, neuro-endocrine substances and neurons.
