The study was done in an area adjusted to the White Nile in Juba called Gumbo.

Nathan ist Umweltwissenschaftler mit einem Master-Abschluss in Wasserpolitik von der Panafrikanischen Universität, die an der Universität Tlemcen in Algerien angesiedelt ist. Er hat für eine Reihe von Organisationen gearbeitet, unter anderem für Oxfam International in Juba, Südsudan, wo er seinen Masterabschluss gemacht hat.
