Text-book evaluation has been an emerging field of study in applied linguistics and curriculum study in the recent years. Particularly, it has caught the attention of many Iranian researchers and has recently been the focus of numerous theses and dissertations across the nation in Iranian universities. Text-book development and preparation is a time-consuming and technically complicated task which might be beyond many practitioners' available resources and expertise. Moreover, different groups of learners have differential needs and purposes which are almost impossible to cater for with one single text-book. Therefore, it becomes mandatory for the majority of language teachers and practitioners to check the extent the content of the available materials is compatible with their learners' needs. This compatibility checking of the available materials is also referred to as text-book evaluation by some scholars in the related literature of the field.
