The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of psychosexuality. Taking an in depth analysis of Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler and Ghosts and to examine the plays with the apparatus of psychoanalysis. Desire and Narcissism have been highlighted in the analysis. Furthermore Lacan's theory is incorporated to justify that Ibsen used the language of unconscious to manifest the intangible on the stage. The suppressed and unspoken notions of the characters clearly ridicule the societal norms. Thus the clash between real values and moral values appear. As these were the characteristics to be explored because Ibsen has been acclaimed as a writer, who wrote consciously but his characters gave versatile messages hidden in their unconscious. The significance of the research is that this sort of theory is not implemented on Ibsen's plays before. This book is purely based authentic research materials. The research is objectively conducted to proof the stance that the characters in Ibsen's plays are narcissistic.
