Rajasthan one of the largest states of India, km has a unique natural region, located on the western part of the country, where distribution of plant species is actually limited. It is known to have unique floral biodiversity in the Asia. The study area covers 8 districts namely Banswara, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi and Udaipur of southern Rajasthan. An illustrated and photographic Flora of Rajasthan book deals with 259 illustrations and more than 584 coloured photographs have added to the value of this study. Moreover, 25 new taxa have been added to the flora of Rajasthan. It is planed to publish the book in 4 volumes dealing with entire Angiosperm occurring in the study area from Annonaceae to Poaceae. The second volume covers general aspects of vegetation key to the family, genera, species and subspecies, along with family Fabaceae to Rubiaceae, which contains 147 colour plates and 50 illustrations, where as the remaining families would constitute the volume 3 and 4. It is hoped that book will certainly serve as an excellent reference material, practical guide of most of the species,especially of oldest mountains of the world, the Aravalli.
