Autorenporträt
Chris is a certified coach and hopes that An Inside Story will point learners to the wisdom of Nonviolent Communication and help parents stay connected to their children during the teen years. She discovered through her own parenting that focusing on feelings and needs can bring people together in ways that sharing thoughts alone cannot. Inspired and encouraged by a teen she lived with and one whom she met, they created a simple book to introduce the basics of compassionate connecting. She believes the visual symbols will help readers remember basic truths... Thoughts come and go, feelings come and go, and deep inside we all have the energy of our needs which connect to everything we feel and everything we do! Starting from this place of shared understanding we can work together to find strategies which meet everyone's needs. Chris credits the simple things she learned throuh NVC with repairing her relationship with her teen daughter and improving her marriage. From the very first workshop she attended, she knew this learning would enhance her life and has been learning and practicing Nonviolent Communication ever since. Chris has received over 400 hours of training, enjoys sharing NVC in small groups and offers a free weekly practice group through Capital NVC. Chris dreams that these sources of support will multiply in response to the world's need for empathic listening and understanding. Her vision is that anyone longing for connection will know that these relational skills exist and that they will have access to learning them just as she did. ? Chris Hartstein and Leland Brigham met during an Nonviolent Communication workshop. They soon realized they shared vision of bringing the powerful work of Marshall Rosenberg to a young audience. First they worked with teenagers as Leland was a teen himself. They later partnered on An Inside Story to reach an even younger audience in the hopes of spreading peace building principles and practices.
