The book explains the nature and characteristics of Indian foreign policy in the context of Look East Policy. Look East Policy is a foreign policy initiative to South East Asia framed by Indian Prime Minister Narasimha Rao in 1990s. The new international atmosphere after cold war, pushed to India to re-open its traditional, cultural, strategic and civilizational linkages with South East Asia. In the post cold war period, India shifted from its immediate neighborhood policy (South Asia) to'Extended neighborhood'policy (South East Asia). Look East Policy initiative marked certain success and opportunities, but it is facing challenges. The book identifying what are the opportunities and challenges ahead to Look East Policy and finally contributed some suggestions to overcome these challenges.
