This introductory book in Spanish phonology explores many of the recurrent themes in both Spanish phonology and Optimality Theory. The book is envisioned for undergraduate students embarking on their first journey into the world of Spanish phonology. In each chapter, a specific data set is examined and analyzed. A justification based on conflict resolution is offered for each topic and the author offers a step-by-step explanation for each analysis. Throughout the course of the book, special attention is paid to the inherent benefits of OT's constraint-based framework.
