The aim of the research is to establish whether compliance by the Board of Zenith Bank with the Code of Corporate Governance for Banks in Nigeria Post Consolidation led to effectiveness of corporate governance at the Board. In an attempt to achieve this aim, the research set out to achieve three objectives namely; (1) to examine and assess the effects of the nomination and recruitment process of the board on the overall effectiveness of corporate governance and business performances of the bank; (2) to examine and assess the effects of the committee structure on the overall effectiveness of corporate governance and business performances of the bank and (3) to examine and assess the effects of the annual board self-evaluation process on the overall effectiveness of corporate governance and business performances of the bank. The research question is whether the Board compliance with corporate governance rules led to effective corporate governance?
