This paper examines organizational design options and provides general recommendations for a software design firm experiencing significant growth. A number of case studies offer insight into how theory and practice merge within organizations. In a high technology firm, and particularly in respect to organic organizations, research has indicated that the use of an intuitive decision-making style, rather than a technocratic style, is most successful. A number of recommendations and conclusions provide some general observations on the iterative nature of organizational design, as well as general recommendations for organizational design options appropriate to firms operating in a highly turbulent industry environment.
