This story is about a young father from the Ozarks who wants to do something different for Christmas with his two children, their cousin, and an aunt, besides simply opening presents and playing on their cell phones. After a brief discussion, they decide that the young man will tell a story to the group which contains fantasy, action, excitement, a little romance, and a happy ending with some Ozarks flavor thrown in to spice it up! AN OZARKS CHRISTMAS STORY is his result. This reinvention of the Christmas Story is well crafted, thoughtful, profound, and entertaining. It flows with grace, warmth, and excitement as it rises above the stereotypical story, offering new insights into the holiday season! Don Provance wrote this story in honor and remembrance of a good friend who passed away. He also wrote it from an Ozarks' perspective with a bit of Ozarks' folklore thrown in to dress it up. Some of the characters are based on two of his grandchildren. Two types of people will really be able to enjoy this tale: those who know the original Christmas Story but are willing to view the story in more modern times from an Ozarks' perspective, and those who enjoy a fantasy tale, particularly from an Ozarkian setting. Don is a lifelong Ozarkian and has written other novels, all with the Ozarks as the setting. He is well versed in the traditions of this region and successfully incorporates much of it into his tale. He presents his Christmas Story in a unique way set in the Ozarks.
