Modern learning strategies are increasingly requiring high quality support from Information and Communication Technology. Moreover, the challenge of defining and developing useful tools finalized to sustain course activities to reach didactic objectives is not over. It is also needed an evaluation of the value provided to the learning processes by effective and responsive Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs). This work will present a system developed following precise pedagogical guidelines for stimulating the usage of an E-Learning platforms in education, and evaluating the added didactic value and the impact on users experiences of a 2D and a 3D VLE. The deep field data analysis carried out with objective and subjective measures, revealed that almost 95% of the population users assessed a positive impact of the system in general and its user interaction possibilities. Furthermore, also the perceived pedagogical value is very high demonstrating that it could be potentially useful for didactic activities. Therefore, the approach presented provide significant evidence that VLEs may be helpful in education even if more research on the field should follow.
