Over a decade, the DVB-T system has been widely used
for transmission of terrestrial DTV programs. A
complete set of field measurement and analyzing
scheme is essential for verifying if the DTV signals
are effectively received by local consumers. Without
such criteria, severe impact would arise on the
development of DTV industry, especially in the areas
where topographic and geographic conditions are too
complicated to allow effective reception of DTV
signals. This work provides field measuring methods
and analyzing schemes on the coverage rates of
outdoor and indoor DTV signals. A block-proportioned
analyzing scheme is invented to calculate the
coverage rates of indoor signals. A picture-layer
analyzing method is created to compute the coverage
rates of outdoor signals along with a software
simulator. These efforts produce working schemes and
identify propagation models feasible under various
environments, and define the relations of the field
strengths between outdoor and indoor receptions. All
the findings herein can facilitate DTV professionals,
engineers and operators to enhance better quality of
services for customers under similar environments.
