The author collected data from nine public day secondary schools in Nairobi county. They included four mixed public day secondary schools, three boys only public day secondary schools and two girls only public day secondary schools.

Dr. Rose Mwanza was born in 22-02-1965 in Malatani village of Kitui district, Kenya. Rose entered school in 1973 and completed primary education in 1979. She holds Doctor of philosophy degree in curriculum studies from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Kenya. She is both a high school teacher and a lecturer.
