The problem of health care efficiency has recently become particularly important in the context of the economic crisis, which has affected virtually all spheres of life. The limited resources allocated to solving the problems of public health protection raise the question of the necessity to choose the most rational ways of their use. In this case the most important criterion for decision-making becomes the efficiency, the calculation of which allows economically justified to reach the optimal allocation of resources in the system. Economic analysis in this case becomes an important condition for making management decisions, both at macro and micro levels. In this paper the problem of quantitative measurement of the results of medical interventions is considered, which is necessary for the successful application of basic methods of economic analysis, such as cost-benefit analysis, cost-utility analysis. The main approaches to the calculation of economic efficiency in the application of various technologies in medicine are presented. It is shown that methodological approaches to the estimation of the cost of human life can be used in making such a measurement.
